Dale Potter-Clark is a historian and author whose most recent book is Escape from Bunker Hill. Part fiction, part non- fiction, it’s a tale of the Underground Railroad and a couple from Newfield who had moved to a Florida plantation named Bunker Hill, but the Mitchells returned to Maine when the Civil War started. They helped four young Black people to escape. Their dangerous journey ended in Readfield, Maine. The Mitchells were real people. The book’s extensive appendix gives much information about their lives and the troubled times when they lived.
